Gracious Me, Look at all those Parcels! A few days ago I picked up the first of several packages of "parcels" for the Gracious Parcels 2006 project. This morning I go to pick up several more. The creativity and care that went into these parcels is evident, and so appreciated. I know the family that gets the blanket with these lovely parcels of love and fellowship woven together within it will love the gift, but I also take your creativity to heart very personally as a gift to me. Thank you, each of you lovely knitters for your generosity and...

When we visited the Finger Lakes region back at the end of October, we drove past many wineries in that area. The one winery we visited was Bully Hill in Hammondsport. It is a very interesting place, and the fellow who founded it, the late Wallace Taylor, was quite a character. While we were there we toured their makeshift museum featuring a collection of art created by Mr. Taylor. We also watched a video about the winery, its origins, and a bit about wine making in the region. When I was a child I used to tell adults who would...

Our satellite connection for the Internet is very sketchy on stormy days, and today is a very storm day.I won't be able to upload photos this morning, and am not even certain when I might be able to get my blog uploaded. Therefore, today's blog will be brief. Earlier this morning I posted the pattern for the fingerless gloves I mentioned on Monday. I am calling them Lucky Warm Fuzzies ... you'll see why. Now I think I will go bake a pumpkin for use in making up a Pumpkin Bread loaf to give comfort to my husband when he...

Back in the summer, on our way back from church one Sunday morning, we stopped up the road a bit so I could shoot a photograph of a nice old barn I admired. I got the shot I wanted, but as we pulled away I caught sight of a second, smaller barn that was back a bit behind the first one. The second barn had boards falling out of it, and light spilled in from the back side wall, lighting the little barn up from within. Standing near the door, and with only his rump and hind legs showing, was...

We had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. We went from a hard and heavy frost Wednesday morning to Indian summer weekend days. Saturday was so warm and pretty it led to yard work by my husband and a vigorous porch sweeping by me. We have a good sized, partially enclosed porch and it was nice to clear the leaves off that had been gathering over the fall months. My husband mowed the lawn and mulched the many leaves from the lawn. In the photo of the willow here, the lawn looks pale green. I shot that photo on Wednesday when frost...
