Yes, my cold turned ugly. Monday my doctor told me I had bronchitis and he put me on antibiotics. I am feeling better now, but not completely out of the woods as yet. The Cold of '07 has been quite a bugger for my husband and I both; he is still coughing now and then, although fortunately his did not go the bronchitis route. Of course, I can be optimistic and look on the bright side ... at least The Cold struck mid-November rather than mid-December. Somehow it seems more favorable to be ill over Thanksgiving than Christmas. It gives...

Beautiful autumn mornings

We had our first lake effect snow flurries for the year two days ago, and temperatures here are definitely low these days. Autumn colors have hung around much longer than they did last year, so I am continuing to enjoy scrumptious views outside our windows, in our yard, and whenever I am out and about in a car. As leaves fall off the trees, more and more of the river across the road is visible from the house. I love this in-between time when there are less leaves than in the summer, gorgeous fall colors are in view on remaining...

We have been on vacation, and oh ... the things we have seen. Our primary mission was a visit with my mother's identical twin sister and her husband, down in North Carolina. My uncle's health has been slipping over the past year, and I wanted him to meet my husband while he is still living at home and able to participate in a visit. On the way south, we visited Colonial Williamsburg where we spent three nights and two full days. My husband had been there many years ago with his family and had always wanted to return. As for...

Last weekend my husband and I took a three-day road trip exploring the Thousand Islands area of New York, the Adirondack Mountains, and a drive back home via Route 67 from Saratoga Springs going west toward the Buffalo/Rochester area. Our first day out, we left before dawn on Friday morning and arrived in Clayton, New York up in the Thousand Islands area before noon. We both love the feeling of being up and out on the road at early morning dark and through the various, sometimes misty, stages of dawn while much of the world is still asleep. There is...

It's cool being a bug

I have been a bug now for a little over one year, and I have to say ... it is cool being a bug. Bugs used to creep me out. Okay, bugs still creep me out to a large degree. However, when I became a bug I was fortunate enough to become one that has never creeped me out in the least and one which, in fact, only conjurs up magic in my heart and imagination. Therefore, I do not creep myself out and I have made some very good friends, friends who rather seem to enjoy addressing me by...
