It was a beautiful day

Sunday as we pulled into the long circular drive around the house toward the back yard, my husband noticed deer tracks leading to a little tree we just planted this past autumn. It was a beautiful day with blue skies and big clouds, so we decided to have a walk around the place to check out what damage the deer(s) may have caused. It was also a great opportunity to do some photography and play with Blu. While I grabbed the camera, my husband fetched this very large ball we gave Blu for Christmas out of the garage. It is...

My daughter gave me two skeins of incredibly soft chunky baby alpaca yarn at Christmas so I could make myself some warm, cozy house socks. I designed a simple pattern for the socks, and just finished the second one this morning. Now, I've got Cozy Toes! The leg of the socks is 11" long, and yet I still had a small handful of yarn left over from each skein. These socks are easy to knit up very quickly, even for a beginning sock knitter. He has been wearing it every time I let him outside to take care of business or just for a romp in the snow. At first he had to get used to it, but after he tried it a few...

Not long ago, one morning, I found myself standing in our kitchen looking out at our snow covered lawn across the street to our frozen river, it too covered with a gathering snow. I stood there in contemplation for a little while, considering my life as it is today and of course, the words came to me again, "I live on a farm." Those words, that thought, may seem of little significance to others. For me, they represent a something quite large and of great significance for which I will continue to feel and express gratitude ... over, and over,...

A week or two ago my mother passed along an email to me featuring a photo of some "snowballs" that strewn all across a snow covered field. I think the caption was something along the lines of the snow balls having been made by God. You could see tracks in the snow, where the balls of snow had rolled along and grown in size with the wind pushing them along. I had never heard of or seen spontaneous snow balls like that before. This week it has been quite cold here, with a couple of all-day snow showers. One morning...
