Of all of my memories of school as a small child, all things related to books and reading and being read to are some of the richest in my treasure chest. I loved paper, the sound of a library book with its heavy plastic protective cover closing with a soft yet decisive thud, and carrying a stack of books to the librarian's desk with my mother by my side getting ready for summer reading. The snow is all gone, but I am still here.
