We are out here living our lives and doing a few good things, making a living, supporting our families, doing laundry, cooking a meal, working the land, whatever. We are the ordinary, and it is us, the you-me-and-we of us that is the extraordinary that mankind has to offer.

It is cold out there, would you like to come inside for a cuppa Joe, tea, or cocoa? I'll put on a fire while you get your self settled into a nice comfortable chair. Together we'll look out the window toward the barn and the fields, with the woods off in the distance. From here I can see some of our trees, the old well pump out near the barn, and the large white expanse of snow covered lawn followed by some fifty acres of land planted this year with clover for hay. Do you see it all, out there...

In early October there is an open studio art trail in our area, and I have been invited to be one of the participating artists. Michael Zambito, the chef and owner of Zambistro Restaurant where some of my paintings are on display, has graciously agreed to use his restaurant as my "open studio". It is on a Sunday (October 5), and he does not normally serve lunch or dinner on Sundays so the entire floor of the restaurant will be available for me to set up as many paintings as I wish. Last September I wrote about spending September 11th down by our cottage, out in our row boat on the river ("This will be our tradition", posted 12 Sept 2006). At that time, I shared the peace and beauty of our sweet river in description and photos. This summer has been so busy, we didn't get out on the river in the boat until just this past weekend.
