[Note: I just posted photos of a couple more knitted Christmas Stockings for those interested. It is Thursday morning at about 9:20 EST.] First of all, thank you very much to those of you who joined me for coffee the other day ... whether you sat silently sipping without leaving a comment, or made your presence known with one. It was a good day, and a good time. The past few days I have actually started thinking that sometime in the future I might like to host a retreat here on our farm for some of the readers of my...

Hugs and Kisses Aran Stocking Complete

Green. My world is filled with green. I come from a place where we had about two days of green each year (Los Angeles) and I find myself in a place so lush and rich with water and soil nutrients that even the brown is green. That's wonderful and great for sun worshippers and movie makers, surfers and roller-blade maniacs. For me, however, there was a misery I dreamed of escaping ... one day....

In the garden, I found it

Look what I found in my garden. I was taking the recycling container out to the street the other day when I spotted these beautiful mushrooms. I grabbed a large trash bag and got on it so I could get these up close and personal shots. Shortly afterward I was sitting out back waiting while Zero (my daughter's Beagle dog) was taking care of business when a story started forming in my mind. Inspired by mushrooms growing in the garden, I wrote a piece of "Knit Fiction" and have posted it this morning in case anyone would enjoy it. Ernesto...

Awaiting heavy rain from Ernesto

country living food knitting stockings yarn

Saturday morning, and we are waiting for the rain to hit from "Ernesto". He's still a bit south of us right now, but we are under flood watches today in our county. Our farm is in no danger of flooding, even though we live on a river. Our river is down some very steep banks, and my husband says there has never been a danger of flooding in all the years he has been here. This farm house is more than 200 years old, and in fact is of somewhat historical interest in the area. During Victorian times, when there...
